Crude Oil is not a glamour resource. It is the stuff that quietly decides whether your gear route moves or stalls. Build the extractor correctly once and you stop treating oil as a chest-luck problem.

• Generator close enough to see when power fails.
• Chest and furnace near the extractor.

Do not spread it across a scenic hillside. Heavy materials, slow workers, and awkward elevation turn a simple oil base into a daily punishment.

If a site has two oil fields inside one base radius, it is usually better than a prettier one-field location.

1.0 adds a late-game oil option that can reduce dependence on natural oil fields. Treat it as a flexibility tool, not an excuse to ignore normal oil-field bases. If your save already has a working oil base, the new option helps expand production or move it closer to your main infrastructure.

Oil rigs

Oil rigs are a combat route, not an automation route. Use them when you also want schematics, combat drops, and a change of pace. Do not rely on them as the only source for a long gear grind.
