Awakening is a World Tree investment system for 1.0 Pals. Treat it as a late-game decision: choose the Pal you plan to keep, then read the current cost and effect before confirming.
The short rule
Choose and breed the keeper first; spend scarce gems afterward.
That sequence limits regret if a better hatch replaces the current candidate. It does not imply that Awakening changes normal breeding results.
How Awakening fits into progression

- Return to the current Awakening screen, read the displayed material and cost, and cancel if the effect is unclear.

Choosing your first Awakening targets
Spend gems where the return is obvious:
- A combat Pal you use in hard bosses.
- A finished Pal with the passives you actually wanted.
- A Pal that fills a role your team lacks.
- A long-term mount or carry you are not planning to replace.
Be cautious with workers. Many base problems are better solved by layout, Condensation, or choosing a more suitable worker. Awakening a worker can be valid, but it should not be your first impulse.
